WHAT IT IS?
Level-Up! Connect places participants into ongoing Minecraft communities based on their local area, LGA, or town. The world remains active over time, with shared projects, landmarks, community spaces, and participant-led ideas continuing to develop.
Weekly guided sessions provide structure and support, but they are not the whole program. They are entry points and anchors into a wider community that continues when participants log off. Weekly sessions are an opportunity to celebrate the individual creations of participants, and make collaborative decisions about the future of the community spaces.
The current Level-Up! Connect rollout is focused on adult participants aged 18 and over.
Under-18 participants can register interest using the Expression of Interest form.
Separate under-18 worlds will be created when demand supports them. A minimum of 5 active participants is required per community.
Adult worlds and under-18 worlds are completely separate environments. They do not coexist, overlap, or share access.
Level-Up! Connect worlds are based on a participant’s local area, LGA, or town. This means the people they meet on the server are from their own community or nearby. That local focus matters. It creates a clearer pathway from online participation to genuine local connection, shared identity, and friendship.
If a player chooses to journey beyond their own world, outside the gateway and into the wider landscape, they may find neighbouring towns and communities.
The shared world is optional and built to scale. For example, the 60 km journey from Horsham to Stawell would take many hours to travel in-game, and access between communities remains restricted.
Participants build homes, towns, farms, landmarks, shops, event spaces, and shared community areas. They join group projects, plan with others, and contribute to a world that keeps developing.
Weekly sessions provide a regular anchor for the community. Facilitators support entry, group activities, shared projects, communication, and confidence in the online environment.
Participants can access the world outside weekly sessions. They can continue building, explore changes, and return to a place that feels active and familiar.
Registration starts the process and helps us understand age, local area, support needs, Minecraft experience, and goals.
We review suitability, access needs, available local groups, and the right age-based pathway (where applicable).
Participants are placed into an appropriate local area, LGA, or town-based world when a suitable option is available.
Weekly sessions help participants enter the world, meet others, learn expectations, and begin connecting.
Participants can continue accessing the world outside scheduled sessions and remain part of the community as the world grows.
SETUP REQUIREMENT
Level-Up! Connect is accessed through Minecraft (Java Edition) on a Windows computer. Participants must have their own copy of Minecraft Java Edition before joining the program.
After registration, Level-Up! will contact participants with supported installation and setup steps. We use a customised Minecraft environment with plugins and approved mods designed to create a unique gameplay experience that supports collaboration, shared projects, and community participation.
The environment can support features such as local proximity voice chat through a microphone, plus VR access through Vivecraft for participants who have a compatible VR setup. These options are part of the customised experience and will be explained during setup where relevant.
The startup process is supported, and participants will be told exactly what is needed before they enter the Minecraft world.
Level-Up! Connect is a structured social and community participation program. It is not therapy and does not replace clinical or behavioural supports.
Before entering a world, participants agree to the Code of Conduct and the shared expectations that keep the community respectful, predictable, and safe. Facilitators monitor the environment, guide participation, and respond to concerns. Participants are expected to communicate respectfully, follow agreed boundaries, and ask for help when something does not feel right. A positive world is everyone’s responsibility.
